About Us

Pacific Northwest Cruising Boats is about family boats that can cruise the Pacific Northwest, at a price an average Northwest family can afford.

We cover the boats that can handle Puget Sound, the San Juans, and the Gulf Islands (cabin cruisers, trawlers, tugs, and pocket cruisers) and what they cost to buy, run, and keep: moorage, insurance, maintenance, fuel, and haul-outs. We cover buying used, too, and the upgrades that make a value boat ready to cruise.

How we write

Budget-honest and Northwest-specific. Prices are estimates with a date and a source. Safety topics cite official sources (NOAA, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Canadian Hydrographic Service) and never replace training or local knowledge. Nothing here is financial advice.

Plan the trip, too

Our sister blog, Pacific Northwest Fuel Mate, covers cruise planning, fuel costs, and tides for the same waters.

Who we are

Pacific Northwest Cruising Boats is published by PNWTechnology (Pacific Northwest Technology LLC), a small Pacific Northwest studio run by people who boat these waters.
